CONCERT

We will start rehearsing for next week’s First Grade Concert.  The concert will be held in the Common Room on Thursday, May 26^th at 2:30. 

POETRY CELEBRATION

We have been having fun writing poems and will soon be selecting our very best poems which we will share with our parents at a celebration called “Poet Pallooza” on Friday, June 3^rd at 2:30.

HOMEWORK

I have told the class that we will have homework up to Memorial Weekend. So that means there will be homework this week and next week.

Our class will visit the book fair on Monday, May 2 from 9:40-10:00.  Parents can meet us in the library if they’d like to shop with us. 

SPIRIT DAY 

This Friday, May 6 is Derby Day.  Wear a hat to school…any kind will do!

ACADEMIC UPDATE 

*Homework:  There are 4 more weeks of homework. The last night of homework will be Thursday, may 26^th.

*Writing Workshop: We will begin our last unit which is on Poetry.  This is a very different kind of writing from what we have done this year.  We will celebrate our poetry skills at an event called “Poet Pallooza” on Friday, June 3^rd at 2:30.  Mark your calendars!

*Reading Workshop:  We will be reading published poetry to help inspire our writing.  We will do our year end DRA reading assessments starting this week.

GOODBYE MISS DENNEN

We are sad that Tuesday is our last day having Miss Dennen as our student teacher.  Even though we will miss having her in our room every day, we know we will still see Miss Dennen because she will continue working at Ox Ridge as our school intern.  We will have a little party on Tuesday and present her with our “top secret” gifts and cards.  (Cards will be Monday night’s homework.)
